Spring is Truly in Full Bloom at Fleurenasci

As beautiful spring flowers are popping, our business is in full bloom as well, and I am thrilled to announce the newest opportunity that has come to Fleurenasci.

Fleurenasci products will now be included as one of three options offered in Dignity Memorials Family Support Packages. After meeting with Eddie Lummus, Area General Manager Dignity Memorial and Tiffany Haynes, Funeral Director of Woodstock Funeral Home, Dignity Memorial, the decision was made to test the new partnership at two of the company’s locations, Woodstock Funeral Home in Woodstock, GA and Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw, GA.

Tulips are Blooming

If your yard is like mine, the tulips are blooming, the daffodils are open and yes … there is pollen everywhere! But blow off that yellow coating and check out the vibrant colors of the beautiful spring flowers. They are absolutely some of my favorite flowers, and they make gorgeous jewelry.

March Partnership Spotlight

This month I would like to introduce you to Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, GA. After meeting the home’s manager, Brendan Burkhead, at an Expo, I was so excited about his enthusiasm of Fleurenasci. He loved the concept so much, that he actually had an order placed before our partnership had become official! Wow, no wonder they have been in business as long as they have!

No stranger to the funeral home business, Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville was originally established in 1950, as Akins Funeral Home, owned by Pat Akins. In 1967, Raymond Nix bought in to the business, and it became known as Akins-Nix Funeral Home. The original funeral home was located on Highway 129 south and re-located to Kimsey Street in Blairsville. Due to the retiring of Mr. Akins and the failing health of Mr. Nix, they sold the funeral home and Union Memory Gardens Cemetery to Steve and Max Cochran in 1981. After purchasing the funeral home, a larger office was added, along with another layout room, a selection room, and other minor remodeling was done.

In 1993, a new building was built, the current funeral home, located on Highway 129 and corner of Hunt-Martin Street. Steve and Max felt this building could better accommodate the growing community, and they could serve family’s needs better in the new location.

 

The funeral home now has locations in Blue Ridge, Hiawassee, McCaysville, and Murphy, NC. The Cochran family takes great pride in the fact they have helped families from all over the area and from all walks of life. They are known for their industry leadership, their high integrity and their dedication to excellence. These are the exact same qualities I see with Cochran when working with them on a professional level. I am thrilled to have them on board as a partner and look forward to a long lasting working relationship.

Daffodil: The Flower of Spring

Wait, did we have a winter? I can’t believe the temperatures are rising and all around spring is in the air, especially when it comes to flowers. And what flower often reminds us of spring? The daffodil and that just happens to be the birth flower for March. I adore this spring flower and everything it represents for not only the month but also the season! The daffodil, which can also be called a Jonquil or Narcissus, is most commonly known for its yellow flower. I just love to drive down the road and see them popping up in front of homes, in fields and landscaped areas. To me they just say SPRING!

To many Christians the daffodil is also a symbol of Easter as it is believed that the flower first bloomed during the time of Christ’s Resurrection. The legend says it was in the Garden of Gethsemane during the actual time of The Last Supper which symbolized great sorrow and hope for much better things to follow.  I can see the bright yellow flowers throughout the garden.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the daffodil means unequaled love; the sun is always shining whenever your significant other is around. After I read this, I thought how fitting that a flower with that meaning would represent Easter.

The daffodil is a beautiful cut flower for your home and its bright vivid color makes a beautiful bead for your add-a-bead bracelet. I have even got a few photos of some of the pieces I have created from the daffodil. Valentine’s Day is Right Around the Corner

Don’t blink because Valentine’s Day is only 11 days away! Wait? Didn’t we just celebrate Christmas? If you are like hundreds, no let’s say millions of others, right this minute you are in complete panic as to what to give that someone special. Well, we are going to make it easy for you. First, go pick up that bouquet of flowers from the florist and give them to her with a beautiful card. Let her enjoy the beauty of the flowers you have purchased, but don’t let her throw them out. Keeping Your Resolutions in 2016

You’ve heard the expression “there’s an app for that.” Well now there is even an app, make it several, to help you keep your resolutions for 2016. In a recent Vogue article, the magazine reviewed eight apps that can help make this year THE year you achieve your goals.

Want to run a half marathon? Try downloading the app, Strava. Not only does this app “track your runs while you have your phone, but you can also upload workouts manually or through a compatible GPS tracker. There is even a challenge section that changes each month to push you ever further.”

How about investing your money? Then you might want to look at the app called Robinhood. “This app, which won the Apple Design Award last year, lets you invest for free—avoiding the $10 fees other companies require. Plus, there is no initial investment requirement, which makes it the ideal place to learn the ins and outs.”

One of our favorites is the app called Epicurious, an app designed to help you eat less takeout. The app helps you learn to cook and offers a great variety of menus.

Twas the Morning Before Christmas

It is early in the morning on this 24th of December. Many are still tucked in their beds, while we are making the final touches to precious Christmas presents.
