Fleurenasci literally, is flowers renewed.

Flower and Butterfly 8 w Tag Line with R mark (1)Fleur ~ French Etymology: /flœʁ/ Latin flos, florem; (flower; the finest part of something).

Renasci ~ Latin Etymology: re-+nāscor. Verb, present infinitive renāscī; (revived, renewed, born again).

Essence ~ Latin Etymology: essentia (the core nature or most important qualities of a person or thing).

Fleurenasci literally, is flowers renewed. As I celebrate the approval and finalization of the company’s logo trademark, I am reminded that Fleurenasci represents so much more than simply flowers renewed.   The choice to include the tag line “Bringing Flower Essence to Life,” is a gentle reminder to look beyond the exterior…. to celebrate the essence of life’s triumphs and life’s trials … for they shape the essence of the individual.

While the adding of a flower was initially intended as a subtle way of connecting Fleurenasci to flowers, again it evolved into so much more. The daffodil was chosen for its essence of joy and new beginnings.   Which brings me to the butterfly.   While there are many meanings derived from the butterfly, I choose to embrace the spiritual meaning, which is… to convey the choice to transcend, the power to make a choice, to choose our way of being… our paths… our destiny.

Is it my hope that you think Fleurenasci when you see flowers or even think about flowers? Certainly. But more importantly, as we enter this holiday season with all the hustle and bustle it brings with it, it is my hope you are gently reminded to celebrate and embrace life… to celebrate and embrace the essence of those around you… to celebrate and embrace your essence and all that you are!

I know I’ll be taking a moment to celebrate the essence of a few wonderful people who without their insights and skills the Fleurenasci logo would not have been born. Thank you to Jennifer Wilkes of JDW Integrated Marketing for your guidance and suppport and thank you to Tracy Willis of Tracy R Willis Photography for your design work and insightful vision in creating the Fleurenasci logo! I am forever grateful!

Memorial Day ~ A Day of Gratitude

1779780_10151847976217396_2008031739_n Memorial Day, a day set aside to remember and honor our fallen soldiers, their families, and loved ones.

As the founder of Fleurenasci, I have the pleasure of celebrating the essence of life through the essence of flowers, and many times a customer’s creation originates with flowers sent to celebrate the life of a loved one. As I began my day today I must admit my focus was on the upcoming extended weekend. However, in grinding through some administrative tasks necessary before enjoying the weekend I found my thoughts progressing toward the essence of Memorial Day.

Having grown up an Air Force brat, I remember well my father being absent for extended periods of time. A year served in Thailand was the longest absence I recall. I was one of the fortunate ones though in that my father returned from each and ever mission he served, and we honor his service and many other ancestors who served on Veterans Day. Memorial Day, however, is a day to stop and remember those who will not be returning to their families and loved ones. It is a day to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. As is true for so many of you, my sweet niece, Erin Stalnaker, and her family have known this loss. The sacrifice made by her brother, U.S. Marine Corp, LCPL Noah M. Pier, who gave his all for his country on Feb. 16, 2010 is a loss shared within her family each and every day. My heart reaches out to them many days, but this weekend especially as we pause to remember…

This holiday, Memorial Day, was formerly known as Decorations Day and originated to commemorate the soldiers who died in the Civil War. Many volunteers continue to honor our soldiers today by placing an American flag on each grave in the national cemeteries. I would like to take a moment to thank these volunteers for their time and efforts but most importantly for helping us to remember what this weekend specifically Monday is truly all about, honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. I would also like to take a moment to thank and honor the families and loved ones whose support made their soldier’s service possible.

Whether your weekend plans include a backyard barbecue or you are kicking off your summer with an annual vacation, please pause and pay tribute to our fallen soldiers. And while you cannot tell them thank you directly, you can take a moment to thank their families and loved ones. Share a kind word of gratitude, give a loving hug or simply bow your head and say a silent prayer of comfort for all those whose loved ones are not returning and are most certainly missed so dearly!

Thank you Erin! And thank you to your family for your support of Noah as he chose to serve his country. You are in my heart, my thoughts and my prayers….

Live Life to The Fullest

DSCN9626This morning as I walked down my driveway to retrieve my morning paper, I stopped to admire the beautiful pink cherry blossoms that grace my yard for such a short time each spring. As it does more and more these days this took me to my computer to find out more…. And once again, I find myself wanting to share the essence of yet another of Mother Nature’s wonders.

The Cherry Blossom ~ Cherry blossoms are flowers of the cherry blossom tree known in Japan as the “sakura.” In Japan the cherry blossom is seen as an omen of good fortune, an emblem of love and affection, as well as an enduring metaphor for the fleeting nature of mortality.

Symbol of Hope ~ The cherry blossom season overlaps with the fiscal and calendar years in Japan, marking the arrival of new beginnings. The exuberance and intensity of the cherry blossom, therefore, bestows the license to hope and dream of greater things to come and to look ahead with enthusiasm and optimism.

Symbol of Power ~ China upholds the cherry blossom as representing feminine beauty and dominance. It is regarded as a symbol of a woman’s attractive looks and her ability to command men by means of her beauty and sexuality. The flower also symbolizes love, which is known as maintaining a feminized emotion.

Symbol of Humanity ~ The blooming season of cherry blossoms are brief, resulting in instant beauty and immediate death of the flower. Within the Japanese culture they serve as reminders of humanity and mortality since, like cherry blossoms, a human being’s life can end at any given moment. The human condition is epitomized through the cherry blossom, alerting people that life is too short to waste away and that people should live life to the fullest.
